Through the study of works by artists and photographers, the workshop proposes the discussion of different central concepts of photographic image over the last 50 years, as well as its presence in art circuits (galleries, museums and biennials). There will be discussions on the possible categorizations of image since the conceptual photography of the 60′s and 70′s, covering photography as an artistic material during the 80′s and 90′s, until what has been recorded on the turn of the 20th century. Over the course of this workshop, the attendees will also have the opportunity of participating of a group reading of works performed by the students.

João Castilho é artista visual e autor dos livros Pulsão Escópica (2012), Peso Morto (2010) e Paisagem Submersa (2008). Suas obras integram os acervos de destacados espaços, como MAM (Museu de Arte Moderna, São Paulo), MAM (Museu de Arte Moderna, Bahia), Musée du Quai Branly, em Paris, e Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, no Japão. Já realizou exposições individuais na Zipper Galeria (SP), na 1500 Gallery (NY), na Galeria Celma Albuquerque (BH), no Museu de Arte da Pampulha (MG), na Fundação Joaquim Nabuco (PE), dentre outros. Ganhou os prêmios Ibram de Arte Contemporânea (2012), Projets de Création Artistique (2011), Marc Ferrez de Fotografia (2010), ConradoWessel de Arte (2008). [www.joaocastilho.net]
